As a band, they had 21 number one hits--and nearly forty years after their breakup, The Beatles are still loved worldwide.
This weekend, Liverpool Legends, a Beatles tribute band, brought a Keokuk crowd to its feet.
"We started auditioning people from all over the country," said Marty Scott, who plays George Harrison. "We found what we think are the best four guys in the whole entire country."
"The Beatles' music was such a strong, positive force in a lot of people's lives," said Greg George, who plays Ringo Starr.
"Sometimes, you know, people are screaming so loud, you can't really hear it," said Davey Justice, who plays Paul McCartney. "But you can feel it."
"It's pretty wonderful, because a lot of people love the Beatles so much," said Kevin Mantegna, who plays John Lennon. "It's amazing--they're really involved in the music. It really gets their emotions."
"We get the play the best songs ever written," said Scott. "Make people smile, and forget about their problems--it's just a great job."
Money raised from the Liverpool Legends concert benefits the National Colon Cancer Alliance. This is the second year that the local Voices of Iowa chapter of the Colon Cancer Alliance has brought the band to Keokuk.

The tribute band was put together by George Harrison's sister. If you missed this weekend's performance, the band plays regularly in Branson, Missouri, where they were voted "Best Show" and "Best Band" for the past two years straight.
